At present, the U.S. government is actively placing employees with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) within federal agencies.
According to a senior official of the Trump administration on Tuesday (December 23), approximately 25,000 people have expressed interest in joining the engineering team known as Tech Force under the Trump administration.
Scott Kupor, Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, wrote in a post that the Trump administration would use this list to recruit individuals for software, data engineering, and other technical positions.

It is reported that these interested candidates will compete for the first 1,000 spots in the Tech Force team. Earlier, Kupor introduced that the newly recruited AI personnel will work on technical projects within federal agencies for a two-year period, including departments such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Justice.
Trump's AI Ambitions
Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced this new initiative called U.S. Tech Force, whose members will work on AI infrastructure and other technical projects across the federal government.
The establishment of this technical team indicates that, as the Trump administration strives to gain dominance in the rapidly growing industry of AI, it has also increased its focus on developing U.S. infrastructure.
This recruitment plan is considered part of the Trump administration’s AI agenda. Although President Trump initially sought to reduce government positions during the first few months of his second term, exceptions were made for roles deemed essential to “national security.” Thus, the creation of Tech Force represents an exception amid this wave of personnel reductions.
Previously, several U.S. presidents, including Biden, initiated similar efforts aimed at bringing more technical talent into government agencies.
