On Friday local time, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated that he plans to meet with U.S. President Trump soon and noted that many things could be finalized before the arrival of the new year.
Zelenskyy had previously indicated that sensitive issues, including territorial concessions, should be discussed at the level of heads of state, and the Ukrainian side has been seeking a face-to-face meeting with Trump.
"We have agreed to hold a meeting at the highest level — a meeting with President Trump in the near future. Many things could be finalized before the new year," he wrote on the X platform, following the conclusion of the latest round of talks between Ukrainian and American negotiators.
This Thursday, Zelenskyy held discussions with Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
He mentioned that some documents are "close to completion," while others are "fully prepared." These documents form part of a broader framework aimed at ending the conflict and ensuring Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Earlier this week, Zelenskyy unveiled the latest draft of the Russia-Ukraine peace plan, titled the "20-point proposal," describing it as the main framework for ending the war. Zelenskyy emphasized that this framework document remains a draft, and its terms may be revised during negotiations.
Later on the 25th, Oleksii Umov, head of Ukraine’s negotiation delegation and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, will continue consultations with the U.S. team. Some agreement documents have been drafted and are nearing completion, while others are fully ready, though further work is still needed on certain "sensitive issues."
