According to Zhitong Finance APP, China Southern Airlines Company Limited (01055) announced its 2025 annual performance. The total operating revenue amounted to RMB 182.256 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. The net profit attributable to the company's equity holders was RMB 8.55 billion, compared with a loss of RMB 17.69 billion in the same period last year. The basic earnings per share were RMB 0.05.
The majority of the group’s operating revenue is derived from the air transportation business. Transportation revenue accounted for 94.79% and 95.09% of the operating revenue in 2024 and 2025, respectively. In 2025, 88.65% of transportation revenue came from passenger services, while 11.35% was generated from cargo and mail transportation. During the reporting period, the group's total transportation revenue reached RMB 173.314 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.95%, primarily due to growth in passenger and cargo revenue.
The main reason for the increase in operating revenue was a 4.91% year-on-year rise in passenger revenue to RMB 153.644 billion in 2025. The total number of passengers carried increased by 5.46% to 173.7 million in 2025. Revenue passenger kilometers grew from 305.966 billion passenger kilometers in 2024 to 331.306 billion passenger kilometers in 2025, representing an increase of 8.28%, mainly due to higher production volumes and growth in international route passenger numbers.
