According to media reports, Meta has signed a contract with Crusoe to purchase computing capacity from its two data centers located in Childress, Texas, and Warrenton, Missouri, with a combined capacity of approximately 1.6 gigawatts.

According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, Meta has signed a contract with Crusoe to purchase computing capacity from two of its data centers located in Childress, Texas, and Warrenton, Missouri. The combined capacity of these two facilities is approximately 1.6 gigawatts—equivalent to powering up to 1.2 million U.S. households simultaneously.
The specific financial terms and delivery timeline for the computing capacity under this deal have not been disclosed. Meta previously committed to investing at least $600 billion in AI infrastructure over the next several years, drawing increasing market attention to whether it can generate returns from this massive investment.
Meta Makes Aggressive Bet on AI Computing Capacity
Meta is racing against its Silicon Valley peers to secure additional AI computing capacity agreements. Its largest single project is a nearly 4,000-acre campus in Louisiana, with a planned capacity of up to 5 gigawatts.
The agreement with Crusoe forms part of Meta’s strategy to diversify its sources of computing capacity. According to sources, the two sites in Texas and Missouri were previously announced by Crusoe as already having contracted tenants.
Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, recently launched its first subscription-based AI chatbot service—a move widely seen as a critical step toward converting its AI investments into commercial revenue.
Crusoe Has Secured Contracts for 4.9 Gigawatts, with a Pipeline Exceeding 40 Gigawatts
Founded in 2018, Crusoe specializes in building and operating large-scale data centers for AI workloads. Earlier this month, the company stated that it has secured contracts for 4.9 gigawatts of capacity and maintains a development pipeline exceeding 40 gigawatts, including data centers with tenants still in negotiation and sites in advanced stages of development.
Crusoe’s client roster includes Oracle, Microsoft, and Google. Its contracted projects include a campus in Abilene, Texas, developed for Oracle and OpenAI; a data center supporting Microsoft; and a third site near Amarillo, Texas, already contracted to Google.
Despite strong overall momentum, Crusoe has also encountered challenges with certain projects. After early negotiations with Google collapsed, Crusoe was forced to withdraw from developing its planned data center project in Wyoming; Oracle had previously discussed procuring computing capacity from the Wyoming site as well, but those discussions also failed to move forward.
